POST-CONSTRUCTION WINDOW JOINERY REMEDIATION AHEAD OF PROJECT HANDOVER (HOBSONVILLE POINT)
Site
A newly completed five-storey apartment building within the Kerepeti Uku development at Hobsonville Point, Auckland, delivered by Haydn & Rollett and designed by Context Architects.
Issue
The building's glazing required remediation before handover, with concrete splatter and adhesive residue remaining from temporary window protection film. Access to some areas was challenging, particularly as the project entered the final stages of construction.
Our Approach
BeWashed used a combination of rope access, elevated work platforms (EWPs), and traditional access methods to safely reach all glazing areas. Specialist commercial products and proven post-construction cleaning techniques were used to remove construction debris and adhesive residues without damaging the glass.
Challenge
As the project approached practical completion, multiple trades were working simultaneously to finish their jobs. Access requirements changed frequently, requiring close coordination with the main contractor and ongoing communication with other contractors to avoid conflicts, stay on schedule, and ensure safe access to all work areas.
Outcome
The glazing was restored to a clean, handover-ready condition, supporting final quality inspections and practical completion. Through flexible scheduling and proactive coordination, BeWashed delivered the works successfully while the wider construction team completed the remaining project activities.
